When I was little we used to have competitions at the dinner table. One was icecream soup. This is where we would mix our icecream to a liquid ... See animation.

My brothers and I were not allowed to make soup out of our ice cream. My father wouldn't allow it. We had to make ice cream soup in secret.

Now that I'm an adult I can't imagine what was his problem with ice cream soup!!

I used to love making ice cream soup, but especially when I'd put chocolate syrup on the ice cream and make "special soup" with Added Flavor.

I was an ice cream souperman, but not as a contest. Just as a great way to enjoy desert and to bond with my brother. For contests, he won the ear wiggling, while I won the raising one eyebrow at a time, as well as the all important reciting the alphabet backwards.

I remember that many many children I was friends with would make ice cream soup. I HATED it. I felt then, and still feel, like I was missing some kind of essential child gene. Why did I hate ice cream soup? I still don't know. I also liked to eat my oreos in one piece (after separating to see if I could perfectly get the top off without ripping the center, in which case you get to make a wish, I would then reassemble the cookie).
